People, Place and Sport

"As soon as it becomes a hobby and the hobby becomes something you love why not do it every single day. What a better way to be happy." - Josh, Fearless MMA fighter, Hockley

People, Place and Sport is a celebration of local communities and sport in the West Midlands.

Representation is a key theme throughout Boora’s work, and in People, Place and Sport she continues to explore the role of gender and ethnicity through a series of portraits and recorded conversations.

Boora also shines a light on the sporting hubs tucked away in our landscape, away from the large stadia, where grassroots sport takes place on a weekly basis.

In this new work Boora asks what sport and the Commonwealth mean to the people of the Midlands.

People, Place and Sport was made possible through funding and support from Arts Council England, Multistory and Birmingham 2022 Festival programme.
